NDDC bought eight vehicles for N560m, Reveals Itse Sagay

The Niger Delta Development Commission [NDDC] has reportedly bought eight vehicles that are worth N560 million.

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption [PACAC], Professor Itse Sagay (SAN), disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday.

He said these in his opening remarks at the National Dialogue on Corruption organised by PACAC at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking, Professor Sagay wondered why with all the financial difficulties Nigeria was going through, NDDC recently bought over 70 cars that included eight super Lexus that cost N70 million each.

Sagay lamented that corruption was omnipresent in the country with all segments being affected.

Sagay specifically indicted the NNDC and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

He said that Customs officers are deeply enmeshed in corruption even under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said despite the purchase, the commission’s Managing Director claimed that the NDDC lacks fund to carry out its responsibilities.

Speaking on Customs, Sagay said: “There is no difference in Customs since May 29, 2015. If you go to Tin Can Island, it is business as usual.”

Professor Itse Sagay is a distinguished legal scholar, Professor of Law and human rights activist, as well as former Dean of the Faculty of Law.
